A School District’s high cost of operation related to Telecom is spiraling out of control
A school district is spending a high dollar amount on their existing phone and internet infrastructure. They are faced with an excessive number of phone lines for their staff as well as less than satisfactory service and support. Their current needs are not being met while the associated budget has gotten out of control.
OTP conducts an inspection of their 3 locations to look for the efficiency of their current state. Upon analysis and audit of the current invoices and usage information related to their phone and internet expenses, it is discovered that the district has significant efficiency and cost issues. Paying for extra phone lines, less-than-ideal technology, and antiquated infrastructure only adds to the cost of the current system. The existence of multiple contracts with different expiration dates, terms and conditions complicates things further. OTP created a detailed scope of work by understanding the actual needs and requirements of the client. This SOW led to the creation of a comprehensive RFP that was administered across 5 different vendors. the client was able to select the best fit vendor for the optimum cost via OTP’s evaluation of each response and comparative analysis of the value propositions of each vendor.
Results:
With OTP’s involvement and expertise, the client was able to obtain an improved phone system and current technology as well as eliminate needless lines. The broadband speed was also improved to 4X of the previous speed for half the cost. The School District is now enjoying a 40% cut to the previous telecom budget as well as a more efficient and easier to work with phone system.
